Asteroid's threat.

In my opinion the biggest threat for the mankind may come from the outer space. Thousands of asteroids are bombarding our planet. The biggest part of them are burning down in the atmosphere. But asteroids with the big mass can annihilate the life on the planet.

I have to agree with this, and actually the moon takes a lot of damage, look at all the craters it has on it, its a scary thing to think of but its happening. I still do not think that we will die in 2012 because no one can predict anything like that.

I would very much support world governments efforts to make a better anti-asteroid plan. There has to be a way to effectively protect the planet from this kind of threat.

You are not the first one who thought of this, NASA has been working on designing mini shuttles and rockets that would intercept dangerous asteroids, but one of them hitting the planet without warning is not likely to happen. Even if the big space agencies miss it, or want to cover it up amateur astronomers would be able to pick it up months, maybe years beforehand.

There was a near miss not long ago. Didn't they try diverting that one? Pardon my ignorance about such recent history, but all I remember was that they were worried about it and then it didn't hit us.
