Brooklyn-based artist*Kyle McDonald was busted by the Secret Service for messing around with*Apple store computers and shoppers.
McDonald installed software on New York City Apple Store demo computers that captured pictures of people as they tested the machines. The photos were then automatically uploaded to*McDonald’s Tumblr,*People Staring At Computers.
What’s this art project all about?
“I thought maybe we could see ourselves doing this we would think more about our computers and how we’re using them,”*he told Mashable’s Sarah Kessler.
McDonald’s project was cut short when the Secret Service woke him up yesterday morning with a search warrant for computer fraud. They confiscated two computers, an*iPod, and two flash drives before telling him that Apple would contact him separately.
McDonald’s biggest thought? “I’d rather spend my time and money making new work rather than dealing with a computer fraud investigation.”
