I wish that I could soar to the heights that you have managed Gemini but I am still here just trying to put one foot ahead of the other.
According to the man from Convair in Roses link.... he believed totally that the Satellite was NOT something created by either the Americans or the Russians. That statement is found in the newsclipping that was part of the article in her link about that mystery satellite....
Mention was also made that it was " brought down" in September of 1960.
And somehow Thomas Townsend Brown was able to swoop in before anyone.... with somehow the proper authority... to collect samples of this " thing"... whatever it was ( Your idea of what it was might be very close here but I can not fly that high just yet.) Trying to trace what happened step by step.
I know from a personal angle that the summer of 1960 was a secretive one for my Dad where he was spending alot of time in quiet meetings with some high powered people in the missile technology and guidence system worlds....and I know that toward the fall he was thinking of us moving to a sleepy little town in Virginia called Chantilly..... he told Mother and me the we could live in this particular house....and that I could go to school there until I graduated from High School... we had our hearts set on it! And then SUDDENLY everything changed....Dad went off to work ( we thought ) for a shadowy outfit in Pa.... and Mother and I lived without him for several months... it was a terrible time in our family history and I can remember doing alot of crying and missing Dad alot.

I remember watching Dad dressed in his good suit.... stepping into the dingy from the Duchess as we were moored in the middle of the Potomac River. Oh he is just going to see Scattergood again!... at the time I had NO IDEA what she was talking about but now I realize that was sort of a code for visiting with the CIA because they had built their new facility on the Scattergood property. I didn't find THAT out until I was doing the research for Pauls biography on Dad.... but the mystery of exactly what was happening still remains!
Dad had always been known for his efforts in " radar DETECTION" and by now it had been rumored that he had developed a system that could be used to protect against incoming objects!!!!! Could it have been that when the Black Knight showed up she was in fact what you have said here. Gemini?????... something from elsewhere??????.... I don't know what its purpose might have been but we have quality engineers here from Convair ( remember the connection to Floyd Odlum folks) saying that this satellite WAS NOT from either of the more advanced technologies on Earth at the time.... So what was it? WAS it actually BROUGHT DOWN? If it was " BROUGHT DOWN" what human group would have been capable of that?

If Dads " Group for a " defense system" that possibly " took down this satellite.... Could they also then have been responsible for the Roswell situation? Thats a reach, I know.... but usually things which have traveled hundreds of thousands of miles in deep space ( if it was in fact alien) certainly just don't " fall apart once they get here.... do they?

Dad talked about three things in his early record books ( starting in 1955)..... a communications system...a propulsion system.. and some sort of concentrated defensive " beam".) He never goes into the last further with the paperwork that I have.......... but could he have? Could "leaks " on everything else be hiding and protecting the defense system?
Is that the phantom work that we have been chasing all this time.... while he let the " propulsion system
be the " flopping prairie chicken" that the other enemies of the United States would watch...all through the fifties...... Flying Saucers all over the place.... "look, look, look!"... and of course the ridicule and the organized dismissive attitude threw a wet blanket on all of those discussions.
Meanwhile was someone developing a system that would protect us from " Incoming" from outer space? How secret would that need to be through the years?
I remember what Dad said of me in the early years while speaking to the young man that he was bringing into his group.... regarding me he said " She NEEDS not to know."
Because if I had known my life would never EVER have been troublefree..... knowing perhaps that there actually WERE forces out there that the Earth had to be protected from.... actively.... no will of the wisp or fantasy but a real threat....

Paths keep crossing. according to one account Dr. Lincoln LaPaz was the first to notice and record this mystery satellite...... His name is linked to some amazing and mysterious " Green Fireballs" that were noted and never totally explained in New Mexico in the late forties.

I am sorry CAT.... you have lost me on that last comment... but if I were to reply with any kind of worthwhile knowledge.... where then would the conversation go. I think that you can see the importance here of trying to stay on the nuts and bolts discussion of the possibility of a mystery satellite actually being up there during the late fifties and possibly being brought down in September of 1960.
I know that you have an important theme to talk about here and so does Gemini and I send you my best regards... its just right now.... I am trying to remain focused on what is happening here. Can you understand enough not to be upset with me for being really " narrow minded" at the moment.

I never even thought of any connection between my Dad and satellites until I started helping Paul Schatzkin do the research on my Dads activities... and I kept running into situations that had something to do with satellites..... intelligence satellites particularly... thats why this information bubbling to the surface about the mystery satellite called the Black Knight is so interesting....
And years later he moved suddenly from the Palo Alto area near San Francisco to a little island off the coast of Southern California ( Santa Catalina Island) I NEVER knew why he had decided to do that. Within a week they had moved there....it was that sudden.... and during the months that followed my Dad spent alot of time with a man on the Island named Arnold Morand. Arnold and his wife Bess at the time ran a little lunch spot down on the waterfront named the Busy Bee but he also had an business establishment in one of the canyon.... Housed in a big warehouse type building Arnold had a manufacturing outfit that was MAKING PARTS FOR SATELLITES. They were called Navigation Electronics.
So now I am asking myself.... WAS THAT THE REASON DAD MOVED TO CATALINA ISLAND SO QUICKLY????? He lived on the Island for many years ( in between his visits to other places)..
And ODDLY.... years later my husband and I took over that same business location on Catalina Island when Arnold closed his business down and vacated. It was a rare property and we were very lucky to be able to move into it.............But I never paid that much attention to the history of what was being built there.....
