Time Traveler Caught On Charlie Chaplin 1928 Film 'The Circus'?

According to George Clarke, down below piece of video footage found by him in Charlie Chaplin film DVD 'The Circus '.

Attending the premiere at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA - the scene shows a large woman /man dressed in black with a hat hiding most of his/her face, with what can only be described as a mobile phone device - talking as she walks alone.

He added : I have studied this film for over a year now - showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing.

My only theory - as well as many others - is simple... a time traveler on a mobile phone. See for yourself and feel free to leave a comment on your own explanation or thoughts about it.

What we have here is a film clip of passersby on a Hollywood sidewalk in 1928. A large woman (judging by the size of the man who precedes her) is holding her hand up to the left side of her face. She may, or may not, have an object in her hand.

She is appropriately dressed for Los Angeles in 1928.

George has concluded that she is speaking on a cell phone.

Really, George? WHO IS SHE TALKING TO?

There weren't any cell phone towers in Los Angeles or anywhere else in 1928. There were very little VHF radio communications at that time, and nowhere on the planet were there UHF installations capable of even receiving, much less retransmitting, a cell phone signal.

FM signals, which we take for granted today, were in their infancy in the late 20's, and physicists hadn't even dreamed up complex multichannel UHF technology at that time.

Soooooo, if our lady friend time traveler was talking on her cell phone, she wasn't talking to anyone but herself.

I suppose you could posit that our time traveler could use her cell phone in 1928 Los Angeles to communicate with 2011 Los Angeles, but frankly I've never heard of such a signal ever being received anywhere at any time. If there were time travelers using cell phones, their signals would have eventually been received by researchers sometime between, say, the late 40's and today.

My guess? A toothache. She may have been holding a wet washcloth or an ice bag to her swollen cheek, and was embarrassed to discover that she was being filmed.

An ear ache is a pretty good suggestion as well.[/SIZE]

I agree with you Haifsch, he is problem just scratching his ear or ear ache, however I do not close my mind to the possibility of this being authentic. If you could time travel, you would need some sort of vehicle to get you there and you may bring a crew with you and they may also have a cell phone or other communication device with them as well.

Unfortunately, a cell phone is not the equivalent of a radio - it depends upon an entire intricate, very sophisticate infrastructure created just for wireless telephony.

However, it's entirely possible to build a small radio transceiver - essentially a small walkie-talkie - for communication, and it could even be much smaller than our present cell phones.

But then we've got the problem of concealment. I remember 15 years ago when reasonably small cell phones made their debut - it was startling to see someone having an animated conversation with no one in particular. If our time traveling lady friend is strolling down a Los Angeles sidewalk in 1928, she wouldn't be using so obvious an advanced device, would she?

Now, I'm not a skeptic when it comes to the problem of time travel - I happen to believe that it is very possible via the projection of consciousness. In fact, I'm sure that there are experienced meditators as well as remote viewers who are doing that right now.

If you think about it for a moment, there really isn't any reason to be physically present in another time, as what we really want to do is observe.

Unless, of course, you want to be physically present in another time IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE PAST, which opens up a whole can of worms that's much too complex to discuss in any depth in an internet post.

Of course, there are some theories in contemporary physics which posit that the mere act of observation changes to some degree whatever it is we're observing. Does that mean if I project my consciousness merely to stroll along (so to speak) a Los Angeles sidewalk in 1928 somehow changes the past? I don't know...

Finally, I'd love to give it a try, and it's really not necessary for my entertainment that I be physically present to do so. Anyone care to join me?

Unless this video is enhanced or the original high quality film is analyzed, its not clear enough to know what this person is doing for sure. If it is a time traveler what 1928, and why Hollywood?

Whether or not it's a time traveller, she's definatly holding something up to her hear. She also DOES appear to be speaking. Walking like normal, keeping in PERFECT step with the man in front of her too by the way (same foot too), and she stops as if she had a hard time hearing someone on the 'device' she appears to be holding.

I myself am a star trek and doctor who fan, so having a really open mind to how 'real' those shows can be and I believe are quite accurate at times, I believe she may in fact be a 'time traveller'. She may not be a time traveller at all, and she may be an ALIEN. Considering the fact that a lot of alien races are known to look just like us here on earth, what if it is one of these aliens and not a time traveller at all?

Just a thought.
