Dangerous situation there in Louisiana.. Another potential disaster, as if Katrina wasn't enough. Is HAARP and a combination of fracking capable of doing something like this? What in the world are they doing with the fracking, trying to produce it? I do feel sorry for the people in that state though. Really hope that it won't happen, because it sounds like it would affect alot of us. Will be interesting to see how TPTB solve this one.
First of all there are some 50 salt domes in the area of Assumption Parish. The story of what is in them seems to change daily. If this gas is ignited the explosion would roughly be one and one half times larger than the biggest nuclear device in U.S. service. This is not taking into consideration the oil and gas pipelines in the area, all about 50 miles from Baton Rouge. The sinkhole area is emitting seismic signals that are being recorded, according to Seismologist Stephen Horton at the University of Memphis. Horton’s work at the university involves monitoring the New Madrid fault line for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) including the Louisiana sinkhole disaster.
