How would you react if aliens existed AND the goverment was the one to disclose the information?

When we all think of aliens, we may think of evil weird people that want to kill everyone or experiment on people. anyways its time to not be stupid and start thinking maturely because there MIGHT be evidence for extraterrestrial life, yet the goverment is afraid to tell the public because it would "worry" the public. I don't want responses from religious freaks or people that think that believing in aliens are retarded. just think of it as a possibility, what if the government disclosed information that there are other civilizations out there, how would you react? would it be like a "scientific breakthrough" or would you start worrying? I started to watch this video of people disclosing information of UFO related material. you can find it at the bottom of this wiki pagehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraterrestrial_lifeand its the first external link called "The UFO Disclosure Project" its a movie and its 2 hours long so just listen.

If the gov't has evidence of a friendly alien race I think they would disclose the info. Doubtful that they do though. If we had access to that kind of technology then our space shuttle program wouldn't be in such a shambles right now. They can barely send one into space now days without some dangerous issue popping up. Also I've seen articles on the next generation of space vehicle and it almost looks like we're taking a step backwards, going with rockets again instead of a re-usable shuttle type vehicle. They're supposed to be safer and a bit more efficient, but it's 60's and 70's technology. If they were aware of a hostile alien race, then they are probably correct in keeping that info top secret.

I would be amazed as well as fascinated. It would be an incredible "discovery" (even though it was really not a discovery but a dissemination of information) it would open up so many questions for everyone and make people rethink their beliefs. It would bring with it great changes, possibly for the better but you never know. It only takes ONE nutcase to start a panic and I would understand if the gov't hid it for a little while and prepare for the public's reaction. Now, if they have known and hid it for fifty years....that's a different story and I (along with many other people) would be furious. This is unlikely to happen though, if they knew and kept it a secret all this time then they would probably be able to fool a lot of people into believing that they just found out themselves. I don't find the government in general to be very forthcoming but you never know.
