As a result since 2005 the Vatican as been preparing for the emminent disclosure to the public that Ufos are real and has instructed Monsignor Corrado Balducci, a theologian member of the Vatican Curia (governing body) and insider to the pope , to oversea research about how to explain that the Ufo & Et phenmomnen is real and how it can co-exist with catholocism (so the public don't get freaked out when it happens). Since then Monsignor Corrado Balducci, has gone on Italian national television five times, including recent months, to proclaim that extraterrestrial contact is a real phenomenon.Balducci provided an analysis of extraterrestrials that he feels is consistent with the Catholic Church's understanding of theology. Monsignor Balducci emphasizes that extraterrestrial encounters "are NOT demonic, they are NOT due to psychological impairment, they are NOT a case of entity attachment, but these encounters deserve to be studied carefully."

Well, I'm not Catholic, but several Catholics, including two priests, have written Science Fiction over the last fifty or so years. The concept of life on other planets is not foreign to the Bible, either, so it does not surprise me.The Catholics are likely as prepared as anyone, to greet and attempt to form some kind of relationship with aliens to planet earth. Several years ago, a science fiction story, called "The Sparrow" (Mary Doria Russell) was published in which a Jesuit priest went to visit an alien culture. In the story, reference was made to the Jesuits sending missionaries to native Americans during the early years of the "New World".The story is horrid, not so much for the concepts covered, but for its structure. It is full of flashbacks and introspection that wastes a lot of time. It could have been told as a novella (a very short novel, but longer than a long short story) in my opinion and lost nothing to the plot line.

well, this is interesting. do you remember that will smith movie, independence day? when that movie came out, my husband and i rented it and after i watched it, i told my husband, that's probably what the antichrist is going to tell the world after Christians disappear in the rapture--that aliens took them. i can't remember why i thought that, i only saw the movie once, but there was something specific in there--i wish i could remember what it was, but i'm darned old...lol--something there that made me think it would be a perfect way to explain the rapture to unbelievers. so if churches start teaching that aliens/UFOs exist and if people believe it (we all know that there are some people who will believe ANYTHING their churches teach--even if it contradicts the Bible--although many Christians do not read their Bibles anyway) then that will be quite a convenient way to explain the rapture. interesting. i don't care if people think i'm crazy. i think it's just amazing that this is possibly coming to fruition. i should have known... in fact, i did..lol. freaky.
