Re: What's going on right now

Ya, cats and dogs all have their little oddities. I miss all the dogs and cats I've ever had. I just recently took in another stray (haven't done that for at least 6 years now), I haven't even had any pets for the last 5 years. This cat, well, she's got her own issues and she's starting to relax a little more every day. I think she was abused, so she's coming around quite quickly considering.

I do miss having kittens around, I love to raise them right from birth. My favorite cat by far was one that I had raised, she was an outdoor cat and she used to guard the house like a guard dog. Best cat ever.

your cats lucky it was taken in by you, it sounds like she's going to need some understanding to come around. Sometimes you can tell when the poor things have been abused.

Just before Hurricane Andrew my friend resculed a little lhasa apso, who was being kept tied up on the porch in all kinds of weather, she talked to the owner the owner said her husband didn't like dog smell, (how stupid can one be?) Wonder what excuse she would've given to animal control? can you believe that? All the owner had to do was to give the dog proper hygeine. Well, my friend went home and got some money $20.00 and gave it to the woman and told her she didn't need a dog since she didn't know how to care for one properly. You bet that little dog was well cared for, although it was a little shy around strangers.

My cats are all rescue cats. They can be a lot of work sometimes, but they're a lot of fun too. Both of our dogs were pound puppies.

Those animals are lucky when people like yourself rescue them, many of those animals have some sad stories to go with their background, when you go choose one or you can tell when the animal chooses you, then its truly wanted. my friend and I both wish circumstances were different, as we both miss not having a pet in our lives.

It's a good thing to do to get your pets from a rescue situation. nothing wrong with that because sometimes they don't come to you of their own free will.

Tag and Frosty came from a coworker. Bast was found in a busy intersection, and rescued by my son-in-law. Isis was found in the trucking yard in Olathe, KS, and rode home on my hubby's lap. We were presented with unexpected kittens, after it turned that Frosty was a male, not a female. He's very furry and I hadn't checked that close. The kits were our responsibility, so they stayed with us. A couple of others have come from family members. Teeka joined us when my son-in-law's cousin rejoined the navy. They keep things interesting.

Sounds like you have a good extended family. They're worth it, in my opinion.

As soon as I get enough time to write it up, I'll tell the tales of all my taken in pets over the years. Not that there's really that much to tell, but there's some details in there that I don't want to leave out. Every one of them has been well worth it, even though the time with some of them was short-lived.

Sounds like you have quite an extended family there, and I do believe that the pets you have in your life are family.
