House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will need to reconcile the different House and Senate versionsThe U.S. Senate has passed its version of the Obama Health Care, which differs substantially in content from the House version, which that chamber has already passed. So House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will need to reconcile the different House and Senate versions to come up with a bill that has made it through Congress successfully to present to President Obama for his signature.

Current indications are that reconciliation sessions will be held behind closed doors. Could it be it’s Congress Passes Federal Reserve Act of 1913 Deja Vous time for Obamacare?

Woodrow Wilson, U.S. President was a Democrat and his Congress was Democrat leaning when the Federal Reserve Act came into being in 1913. The Senate passed its version of the Federal Reserve bill on December 1913, the day after the House had passed its version. Then the leaders of both legislative bodies set up a period for reconciliation of the bills. Here’s how Eustace Mullins, author of Secrets of the Federal Reserve, describes in that book what happened:

The Glass Bill (the House version of the final Federal Reserve Act) had passed the House on September 18, 1913 by 287 to 85. On December 19, 1913, the Senate passed their version by a vote of 54-34. More than forty important differences in the House and Senate versions remained to be settled, and the opponents of the bill in both houses of Congress were led to believe that many weeks would yet elapse before the Conference bill would be ready for consideration.

The Congressmen prepared to leave Washington for the annual Christmas recess, assured that the Conference bill would not be brought up until the following year. Now the money creators prepared and executed the most brilliant stroke of their plan. In a single day, they ironed out all forty of the disputed passages in the bill and quickly brought it to a vote. On Monday, December 22, 1913, the bill was passed by the House 282-60 and the Senate 43-23.

On December 21, 1913, the New York Times commented editorially on the act, “New York will be on a firmer basis of financial growth, and we shall soon see her the money centre of the world.”

We can expect Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Reid, both Democrats, to try to pull off a similar coup…and do it today closed doors if at all possible, very likely announcing their success in reconcilling House and Senate bills to the TV news services just moments before the clock strikes midnight.

They’ll put the just before midnight twist into the mix, of course, to provide the American people with the required daily touch of drama they seem to need to experience to keep their hearts ticking and their minds off sex, football games and food, at least for a little while.

Only in the minds of the uninformed, easily manipulated people is political fiction stranger and more ominous than political fact.
