HR 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, is a limited-vision attempt by Democrats and moderate Republicans to craft food safety legislation to address the out-of-control filth and contamination that are inherent in our industrialized, globalized now, "profit -at-any-cost "food system. This being said, OCA does not support HR 875 in its present form, given the fact that, if the bill's regulations were applied in a one-size-fits-all manner to certified organic and farm-to-consumer operations, it could have a devastating impact on small farmers, especially raw milk producers who are already unfairly targeted by state food safety regulators. Although the OCA deems this bill somewhat well-intentioned, we are calling on Congress to focus its attention on the real threats to food safety: globalized sourcing food from nations such as China where food safety is a travesty and domestic and industrial-scale factory farms whose collateral damage includes pesticide and antibiotic-Tainted food, mad cow disease, E.coli contamination and salmonella poisoning. And, of course, the Obama Administration and Congress need to support a massive transition to organic farming practices.
The legislative proposal was submitted by Rosa DeLauro, married to Stanley Greenberg, worked for, yes ...... MONSANTO! The man who for the Monsanto rBGH was pushed through by Clinton, Michael Taylor, is now brought to this law proposal for Obama to press.
Monsanto's Dream Bill - HR 875
Congressional Bill HR 875 was introduced by Congress Woman Rosa DeLauro, whose husband Stanley Greensburg works for Monsanto. Essentially the bill is a giant gift package for Monsanto, mandates the vaccination against aliza tion of seed banking, prison terms and confiscatory fines for small farmers and 24 hour GPS tracking of their animals, and of "industrial" standards to independent farms.
The corporations want nothing less than full control of the country, the end of normal animals so they can substitute patented genetically engineered ones, and the end of normal seeds or seed banking and thus by farmers or individuals.
And now Monsanto wants its own employee, Michael Taylor (the man who forced genetically engineered rBGH on the country when the Clinton placed him on "food safety" in the 90's) back in government, this time to act with massive police power as a "food safety Tsar". HR 875 would give him immense power over what is done on every single farm in the country and massive police state to wield power over farmers.
Rosa DeLauro and Stanley Greensburg have a great deal to account for in Attempting to force through a mislabeled "food safety" bill with hidden intent to wipe out farmers and harm everyone.
