Thread: Honey

    Re: Honey

I understand from some vets that it is dangerous to feed honey to dogs in some instances because it also can harbor harmful bacteria. So getting back to the discussion here of HONEY... has anyone run across that advice and information? Things are not always as sweet as they seem. Linda

    Re: Honey

Granted Wikipedia has flaws but it says this about honey.......

Honey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Most microorganisms do not grow in honey because of its low water activity of 0.6.[3] However, honey sometimes contains dormant endospores of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, which can be dangerous to infants, as the endospores can transform into toxin-producing bacteria in the infant's immature intestinal tract, leading to illness and even death.[4]

Honey has a long history of human consumption, and is used in various foods and beverages as a sweetener and flavoring. It also has a role in religion and symbolism. Flavors of honey vary based on the nectar source, and various types and grades of honey are available. It is also used in various medicinal traditions to treat ailments. The study of pollens and spores in raw honey (melissopalynology) can determine floral sources of honey.[5] Because bees carry an electrostatic charge, and can attract other particles, the same techniques of melissopalynology can be used in area environmental studies of radioactive particles, dust or particulate pollution.[6][7]

And so my question is..... really.... bees carry an electrostatic charge?

And the danger to infants ( and I think that goes for puppies too) is this
"dormant endospores of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum"

Obviously alot more needs to be learned about this " ancient" product. Linda

    Re: Honey

Our biggest problem presently as far as our health goes is that we have taken extreme departures from our natural diet, which would obviously and necessarily contain honey but also a great deal of naturally fermented foods. We like to think we eat well now but really it's about as bad as it can get. Sometimes I think we would be better off, if we must follow this absurd course we're on, to make everything in a lab. At least then it might be more ethical and humane. But it would disable or kill us in a very short period of time, and that demonstration would be most welcome to me because then people would have to see that we know squat about nutritional health.

In my youth I studied medical laboratory technology. Granted, this is not nutritional science but I saw a lot of cells. A LOT of cells, and not just human ones. If it could grow in your body, it was waiting for me at school and then at work (internship, of course). The way we live now is that we're both too dirty and too clean in the wrong ways. We need balance. That does *NOT* come from consuming more stuff that we really fail to understand sufficiently. Lab study is not where it's going to be found either. Science will not help us without first hindering us.

Think about it. For how long has Medical Science told us that we must be slim and not eat fats (except good ones but in small quantities, etc) and you must exercise and you must and you mustn't and you absolutely must but you must never. Remember when one cigarette was enough to eliminate you from insurance coverage or employment? Remember when saccharine was better for you than sugar? That's all the doing of science. Now they say - finally! - that the BMI is a load of crap. I crave the day they confess they really don't know what a normal level of cholesterol is nor why some people make so much of it. <<< Because that right there is the truth. They don't know.

By it's very nature, science cannot ever know. It can seek, but it won't know. Science is dogma. Knowledge comes when we live with our planet - WITH HER. Not in separation, above her, controlling her, oppressing and subjugating and enslaving her. With her. Observe her and you will know yourself. We are her. How much do we know about Earth? Not one damn thing, to be honest. Could we create a mini-Earth and have it work? Not a chance. We fail at single biomes. Putting things under a microscope will not show us anything until we understand the greater things.
    Dare to fail.

    Wonderful post kotn

"Putting things under a microscope will not show us anything until we understand the greater things.

But how to we get to there..... from here? Not a flippant question! Linda

    Re: Honey

The only single way I can see for us to get to the at level of understanding is to humble ourselves. I know that sounds thoroughly off-topic and out there but ... well, I spend a vast amount of time in meditation and have done for many years now. It's a very strange and long story so I'll spare you that, but one thing I've learned is that there are simply not the nice, tidy connections between things - truths - that we would like there to be. And when you really understand something, there is no need for those tight lines to be drawn because things are a lot bigger/smaller than we think they are.

A dream I had years ago just sprang to mind. It is one of my "white" dreams. They always happen in a white place. Only a few things have any substance or color. In one, my grandmother came to me, years after she was dead. I wanted to hug her so badly, I missed her so much. I remember even being in tears as she said to me "Pay attention. This is important." There was a highly polished, shiny linen closet in front of us. There were large doors on the bottom and smaller doors on the top. She grabbed the knobs of the smaller doors and instead of them opening outward, as one would expect, they opened inward, toward the center.

I woke up then, naturally. lol It took me years to figure it out. That is how everything opens. Inward. Toward its center. But it can only be seen when you look for it with your center open too.

It's very hard to do this because it's exactly in opposition of everything we know and every process we have. But we must empty ourselves in order to find what is real. We must open inward to take in what is opening inward for/to us.

I know I sound a bit dogmatic in my criticism of science and their methods, and perhaps I am, but that is what keeps us on this path to Wrongness and maintains our failure and ignorance when we really should be much further down the road than we are in every aspect of life.

    Re: Honey

The Oneness of Allah, known as tawhid, is the first and paramount constituent of the Islamic concept, as it is the fundamental truth of the Islamic faith. It is also one of the chief characteristics of the Islamic concept because, among all the belief systems and philosophies cur*rently prevailing among human beings, only the Islamic faith can be characterized as having a pure form of monotheism. This is why we have included “The Oneness of Allah" as one of the characteristics of the Islamic concept.

The Oneness of Allah is a characteristic of the Islamic concept because the truth of the Divine Oneness includes all aspects of the Islamic faith and practice. It permeates concepts, morals, manners, and all types of dealings among people in a truly Islamic community.

The certainty of the truth that Allah is One dominates the Muslim's concept of the universe and of everything happening in it and his concept of the real, active power behind events in his own life and in the life of the community in which he lives. This certainty and conceptual conviction extend to all aspects of a Muslim's life, includ*ing what is hidden and what is apparent and what is significant and what is insignificant, and it applies to everybody he meets, the great as well as the lowly, to all customs, laws, beliefs, and actions, and to this life and the life-to-come, simply because not a single element of the Islamic system can escape from the all-inclusive belief in the Oneness of Allah. This point was earlier discussed in the chapter entitled “Comprehensiveness."

The Islamic concept rests on the principle that the Divine Being is distinct from His creation. Divinity belongs exclusively to Allah Most High, while creatureliness is common to everyone and everything else. Since Allah Most High is the only Divine Being, it follows that all the Divine attributes belong to Him alone. And since everyone and everything else is His creation, it also follows that they are all devoid of Divine attributes. Thus there are two distinct orders of existence, namely, the independent existence of Allah Most High and the depend*ent existence of all others as His creatures. The relationship between Allah and everything else is that of the Creator to His creatures and of the Lord to His servants.

This is the first principle of the Islamic concept and all other principles follow from it. Because the Islamic concept rests on this basic principle, the Oneness of God is its most important characteristic.

Earlier we said that all the Messengers of Allah Most High brought the message of the Oneness of Allah, so this was the characteristic of all the Divinely-revealed religions. Our assertion is derived from the Qur'an, which states this fact in relation to the earlier Messengers.

We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people, and he said, "O my people! Serve Allah. You have no god besides Him. I fear for you the retribution of an awful Day (Al-A 'raf 7:59).

We sent no Messenger before you without revealing to him, "There is no god but Me, so worship Me (alone)" (Al-Anbiya 21:25).

Belief in the Oneness of Allah was the religion of Abraham, peace be upon him, and he imparted it to his sons, Ishmael and Isaac. Jacob, the son of Isaac, was also a believer in the Oneness of Allah and bequeathed this to his children at the time of his death, as is reported in the Qur'an

    .

And who would turn away from the religion of Abraham, except him who is deluding himself? Assuredly We chose him in this world, and truly in the Hereafter he shall be among the righteous. When his Lord said to him, "Submit!" he said, "I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds." And this Abraham enjoined upon his sons and also upon Jacob, saying, "O my sons! Truly Allah has chosen for you the din therefore, do not die without having submitted yourselves to Him." Or, were you witnesses when death approached Jacob and he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They replied, "We shall worship your God, the God of your fathers, Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, the One God, and to Him we have submitted" (Al-Baqarah 2: 130*133).

And has the story of Moses ever reached you? He saw a fire, and he said to his family, "Wait here! I see a fire (far away). Perhaps I shall bring you a brand from it or may find guidance at the fire." But when he came close to it, a voice called out to him: "O Moses! I am your Lord! Take off your shoes, for you are in the hallowed valley of Tuwa. I have chosen you (to be My apostle), so listen to what is revealed (to you). Verily, I, and I alone, am Allah! There is no god but Me! So serve Me and be constant in prayer in order to keep Me in your remembrance" (Ta Ha 20:9-14).

And when Allah said, "O Jesus son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as gods besides Allah?” he said, "Glory be to you! It is not possible for me to say what I have no right to. Had I said this, You would have known it. You know what is in my mind, and I do not know what is in Your mind, for indeed, You are the Knower of the Unseen. I only told them what you commanded me, 'Serve Allah, my Lord and your Lord.' And I was a witness over them as long as I dwelt among them, but when You took me to Yourself, you were yourself Watcher over them, for You are witness to everything. If You punish them, they are Your servants. If You forgive them, You are the All- Mighty, the All-Wise" (Al-Ma'idah 5:116-118).

in Islam, and only in Islam, all people, without exception, are liberated from such slavery and serve their Creator alone. This is true "liberation of man" and this is the "birth of man," because before this man's true "humanity" had never come into existence in its complete and true form. This belief in the Oneness of Allah and in His Sovereignty over people is a Divine gift that guides all people on earth, and is the Divine favor referred to in the following verse:

Today I have perfected your religion for you, and I have completed My blessing upon you, and I have approved Islam for your religion (Al-Ma'idah 5:3).

    Re: Honey

Yaso, Please stick to the topic of HONEY which this thread was started as. If you wish to speak RELIGION, and quote from your quran and other religious texts and your beliefs, then please, we have a section for that. Go start a thread on your beliefs here: Conspiracy - Religion at Unhypnotize.com

This is about honey, not religion. Unless you are going to provide a CLEAR tie to an aspect of the religion, keep it out of here and start another thread specifially for talking about your religion please. I won't ask again. Next time, either I or one of my moderators will take action and you will receive a ban, either temporary, or permanent. Consider THIS your one and ONLY warning. Thank you.

Now, on that, I KNOW that honey has healing properties, I discovered that myself a long time ago as a child. I decided to eat a spoonful of honey (the solid stuff) when I had a cold. My nose was so stuffed up I couldn't breathe; I just wanted some relief. Something told me "eat some honey", and I did. I immediately started sneezing and my nose cleared right up. I felt great. I've used that technique for over at least 25 years. It works.
Go through your life with love and light, and nothing can truly harm you.

kotn..... I want to be able to continue our discussion of the importance of dreams without causing upset here because we have wandered away from the main thread title.

Lady of Light.... I know this seems strange of me to ask of you but suddenly the " meaning of dreams' is galloping to the forefront of my conciousness and I think that kotn is responding to this also.

May we have a thread that is entitled that.... and would it be alright to transfer his latest message there so that I can join him in continuing the conversation there? Its important because I have just gotten a flood of information on " dreams" and information being transmitted through them.....

And though I respect yasos opinions on honey..... I am being veered away here. Can you help?
And kotn.... are we communicating through my Email or are you another individual? Exceptionally odd here that I would have two parallel conversations going at the same time, saying so very close to the same thing. Something that I can not dismiss.....

And yaso....I would like to talk to you more about some of the things that you have said on this honey thread but I really do have to keep my focus in one direction right now.Looking forward to another discussion here at a later time....

    Linda

    Re: Honey

Works well for all respiratory infections, as do onions. But please always remember to use them when you're ill, not just "as an ingredient". They are medicine. That important to bear in mind every time you put something in your mouth. It's part of that whole other thing I was talking about up there, about learning humility and learning about our surroundings in quiet observation rather than attacking with "scientific" methods. YOU must observe the effects of things on your body and your surroundings. What works this time may not next time nor for the next person when their situation is vastly different from yours. There are not blanket answers for health. Consume less and learn.
    Dare to fail.
