Ghana Slave Trade: Honouring the Ancestors

A Ceremonial procession in honour of the ancestors that were imprisoned and taken away as slaves.

This is the first in a series of videos taken during a tour of Elmina Castle, located in Ghana, West Africa.

Elmina Castle is one of the places Africans were held before being shipped to America during the slave trade. This tour is a sobering look into the past.

    Ghana is still beautiful.

Rose Ruffin, age 93, talks a little about her father and mother. She discusses living on a farm, garden, and how she use to fish with a net with her father. This oral history is part of an ongoing research dealing with the Brick Mill Cemetery preservation project. Brick Mill is the largest all African American community cemetery in Onslow County, North Carolina.
