Thread: Marriage is not fun?

    Marriage is not fun?

What do you think about misery and pain caused by bad marriages and divorce? Do you think a psychological exam is necessary prior to a marriage to check the eligibility of a particular person?

I would say look at all of the happy marriages that have lasted for decades? It's all how you look at it. I do think that getting married should be more difficult than getting divorced. Both should be harder.

To me, marriage is just something that used to have meaning, but too much politics, religion, and ethics got involved. What is supposed to be a private thing between two individuals (and subsequent celebration) has turned into a huge mess with controversies everywhere. Hell, it used to be that black people couldn't marry white people, and even in the year 2011 a lot of backwards places don't allow gay marriage. It's meaningless to me, I'll live in sin thank you very much.

I totally disagree and regret that some people now feel that way about the institution of marriage. It's not the bond, it's the people and their way of thinking. If you don't respect marriage, it will never work.

I would agree with the psychological exam prior to the marriage. This would detect problems that would cause for the marriage to fail later on. But I think if one really loves the partner even though he would find out some psychological imbalance still it would be really be nice to go on with the marriage instead. There are great technologies these days that can cure and it is really right to be with your love one through thick and thin.

    What the Heck..!!!
Marriage is a wonderful thing. The problem is people just don't get to know one another before getting married. Or they think because they live together they should get married sooner or later. The marriages that work are those where both parties love and respect each other, would never even think of doing something to hurt the other, trust each other, share their money and lifes moments, would die for each other and want to grow old together. If you don't feel that way about someone, then you are not truely in love and by no means don't get married. A psychological exam has nothing to do with a happy marriage. If I could find someone who loved me as much as I loved them, I would get married, but today people are so selfish. I guess that is why so many marriages fail. One last thing, marriage is a holy union under God and there is no place in Gods word for same sex marriage. JMO..

Right on! People rush into marriage. Kids get married for the wrong reasons. Engagements used to be much longer and people knew each other for longer. This 3 months and wed business is ridiculous.

Like they say Marriage is like a roller Coaster ...we all have Good and Wonderful Moments and then there is the day's you regret everything but .the best part is working things out together putting your self on your better half shoes how would you do things different .this has worked for me personally.. I've been married since 1985 and had separated for 6 months at one time...but if you really care and love the person you can work things out and all of the bad things you experience are now keys for your success in the future of your Marriage we might not agree on things now but we can sure work them out..this is one thing we got use-to doing writing to each other the thing that bother us or things we don't agree on ...you can try this on a his and hers note book it works great for some people....

In a perfect world, our dreams will be fulfilled. There would be no hard work or planning ahead, because everything you want would be given to you. In the real world, where we all live, rewards must be earned. The problem most people have is in the day-to-day details of accomplishment. Accomplishment takes a lot of time, sacrifice and effort, and that’s the real rub for a lot of people. But, as Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.”

Marriage can be good and easy if both partners could just get along and not let little things get in the way, To have a good lasting marriage you need to have an unlimited amount of forgiveness and never stop loving that person.

I think that the piece of paper that says you are married means very little. Marriage, in it's truest form is a strong bond of love shared by 2 people and who needs a piece of paper to verify that. That kind of marriage was around long before the Bible, UHF. I believe in the union of 2 hearts and souls but I don't think I need a piece of paper from the government to give me that.
