Stop Worring About What Other People think! Anyway - Spirit Master 101 by Gary L Johnson

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you.
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone may destroy overnight.
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous.
Be happy Anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may just never be enough.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, its all between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

Very well stated. I don't think this could possibly be stated better.

It's hard for most people, even if they try, to surpass the influence of others. They need to try harder. :) Myself included. :)

Those are very hard words to live by Denise. As much as I can try to live by words such as these I always forget and fall back to my old ways. But like tell me more sent I have to try harder. Or rather we all do!

It gets easier over time to ignore what others think. I speak from personal experience. Just keep trying, and it will become second nature. I don't give a flying F*** what people think of me or what I do or what I wear. I am me and that is that. Worrying about what others think is creating a me that I don't want and can't maintain. It's easier to be me without a care in the world. It sure is a lot less stressful.

I think age plays a great role in worrying about what people think. Going through school, it's difficult when you are surrounded by people who are superficial. I do try, but it's not always easy.

Your ego can be your worst enemy, peer pressure is all about the ego, if we didn't have egos how much easier with teenage life have been?

The ego can motivate you to do all kinds of terrible things to yourself and others, just so you can fit in and so people will accept you because you act just like they do.
