Think the world is not getting better? NYPD officer photographed giving boots to barefoot homeless man!

A photo of a New York City police officer kneeling down to give a barefoot homeless man in Times Square a pair of boots on a cold November night is melting even the iciest New Yorkers' hearts online. On Nov. 14, NYPD officer Lawrence DePrimo, who was on counterterrorism duty in Times Square, saw the older homeless man without shoes sitting on 42nd Street. DePrimo, 25, left and then returned with a pair of $100 boots he bought at a nearby Skechers store.

"It was freezing out, and you could see the blisters on the man's feet," DePrimo, a three-year veteran of the department who lives with his parents on Long Island, told the New York Times. "I had two pairs of socks, and I was still cold."

The random act of kindness was captured by Jennifer Foster, a tourist from Florence, Ariz., who was visiting the city. Foster, communications director for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office in Arizona, emailed the photo to the NYPD with a note commending DePrimo.

Good post. Yes, we could use more people like that compassionate police officer. Sometimes you can see good things from the MSM. Hope he stays safe, the cities a better place with him in it.

I've heard the random of kindness, or "paying it forward" I do try to do small things, like holding the door open for an elderly person, if there's no electric door available, but unfortunate circumstances prevent us from doing anything more.

I saw this one on Facebook as well. It sure is nice to see a police officer doing something worth-while for a change instead of all the harm and harassing that we always hear about with the police. Good for him. I know there are more good cops out there, I just wish we would hear more about them. Heck, I know there are more PEOPLE out there like this that we should be hearing more about. If more stories like this were in the news, people wouldn't be in as much fear as they are and they would reach out more themselves.

Amen to that. I just heard an update about the young officer he's been on the force for two years. I hope he never loses his obvious compassion for people. He really embodies their catch phrase To Serve and Protect.

I know there are good people out there, it's just the MSM really seem to dwell on the negative. Too bad someone doesn't come up with a 15 minute or however many minutes like 20 minutes, like a Good news Segment on the respective stations. or a mini news show to counteract the negativity. I here the MSM losing viewers. I wonder why? Couldn't be credibility issues could it?
