In a Nowrouz (Iranian New Year) congratulatory message Iran’s Spiritual Leader, Ayatullah Ali Khamenei, has called for ‘Economic Jihad‘ - meaning concerted efforts by the Iranian nation and officials to prepare the grounds for a decade of economic growth.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that ranking first in the region is not a desire, but a dire need, that is fate making, adding, “Under the current conditions of the region and the world any country that would fail in equipping itself with the scientific economic strategies and infrastructures, would be brutally looted, and therefore, we must relying on internal strength and economic progress, materialize the objectives of out Perspective Document.”
It’s interesting to note that not only the US-Israel sponsored four UNSC and additional unilateral sanctions by the US and EU have failed to stop Iran’s progress in nuclear and oil/gas sectors – but the anti-Tehran EU alliance is showing cracks too. For example in February 2011 – Britian’s Israel-Firster prime minister David Cameron during his visit to Qatar had proposed the formation of a breakaway group of like-minded European countries, i.e. ‘Coalition of the Willing’ to join forces to take action against Islamic Republic outside EU mainstream.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its latest report released on June 13, 2011, has highly praised Islamic Republic for its program for eliminating state subsidies from the economy. According to the report Iran’s economy grew at a rate of 3.2% in 2010-11. That’s a better rate than the United States.
Irony of the US-Israeli push for ‘crippling sanctions against Tehran, is that while the Israeli prime minister and cabinet ministers travel from country to country telling frightening stories about Iran and calling for the imposition and strengthening of international sanctions against Iran, back at home the Israeli government itself has not legislated or even bothered to discuss enforcing sanctions on Iran. It has not even adopted the sanctions that the US, Europeans and other countries have imposed, i.e. Ofer Brothers Group’s billion dollars shipping and Israel’s Iranian pistachios trade worth $20 million via Turkey.
Rep. Ron Paul’s advise to Obama administration and paranoid Jewish Lobby, posted on Daily Paul (August 15, 2011), goes like this: “If Iran’s only ambition was to nuke Israel they could have smuggled a nuke from Pakistan (or perhaps N. Korea or Russia) by now and done it. There’s really no reason to believe that the rhetoric is anything but political posturing. Oh, and as a bonus if we opened up trade with Iran (not to mention N. Korea and Cuba) it could help give our economy a boost. Sound reasonable?“
