Pakistan’s Ambassador in Washington, Husain Haqqani, has been busted as result of the ‘Memogate’ scandal. Being a close friend of the Bhutto dynasty in Pakistan, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister, Yousuf Reza Gilani, have fired Haqqani in order to save ruling Pakistan People Party (PPP) from further embrrassment.
Haqqani is blamed for seeking help from Admiral Mike Mullen, the former Israel-Firster US chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, to pre-empt a possible military coup against US-puppet government in Islamabad. Mullen originally denied receiving the ‘memo’ from Pakistani businessman, Mansoor Aijaz but later admitted receiving it. In September Mullen had blamed Pakistan’s spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for masterminding the attack on US embassy in Kabul.
Haqqani has denied Mansoor Ijaz’s story. He alleges that the ‘memo’ was sent from President Asif Ali Zardari.
The memo accuses army chief Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani of plotting to bring down the government in the aftermath of the bin Laden raid, which most Pakistanis consider a stage-show to demonize Pakistan. It asks Mullen for his “direct intervention” with Kayani to prevent a coup. In return, it promise to install a “pro-US security team” to check the anti-USrael groups. It also mentions new policies likely to please Obama Zionist administration but certaily enrage the Army which considers itself guardian of the country.
Pakistan’s Opposition leaders have called Haqqani’s sacking not enough. They want further investigation into the scandal. However, many known US Zionists have supported Haqqani’s innocence and claim that he has been framed. Senator John Kerry has called Haqqani a great friend of United States and a true Pakistan patriot. Benjamin Rhodes, Obama’s deputy national adviser praised the ousted envoy by calling him a ‘friend of US’ while calling ‘Memogate’ an “internal issue” for Pakistan.
On December 10, 2010 – Washington-based journalist, Ali Gharib, exposed Husain Haqqani on Ziocon Foreign Policy (FP) magazine as an Israel Lobby fundraiser. According to Ali Gharib, Haqqani hosted a fundraising event at his home for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Jewish think tank connected with Israel’s Likud party. It was established after 9/11 and since then has been campaigning for an attack on Islamic Republic.
Haqqani has a long association with the Israel lobby. He has worked for the neoconservative Hudson Institute and the notorious Islamophobe Daniel Pipes. Indeed, Pipes chose Haqqani to head his ‘religion-building’ project, a ‘pro-American’ Islamic think tank that would ‘go head-to-head with the established Islamist institutions’. In February 2004, he toured the United States with neoconservative propagandist Stephen Schwartz attacking mainstream Muslims organizations, and advising local Jewish communities on how best to enhance their lobbying power in Washington.
Haqqani (born in Karachi in 1956) is a visiting scholar at Washington-based Ziocon think tank, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore (Md). Haqqani is married to Farah Naz Ispahani, a former producer at CNN and MSNBC. She belongs to wealthy Ispahani family from Bangladesh and is grand-daughter of MAH Ispahani, Pakistan’s first ambassador to United States appointed by the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in October 1947.
