Zionist Occupied EU governments announced new unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic in a meeting of the bloc’s foreign ministers on January 23. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, David Cameron, Stephen Harper, Ehud Barak and Shimon hailed EU’s decision. Tehran, Moscow and Beijing criticized the decision as “unconstructive”.

The 27-member bloc agreed to ban oil imports as well as petroleum products from the major OPEC member state and freeze the assets of the Iranian Central Bank across the EU. The European Union also imposed a ban on the sale of gold, diamonds, and other precious metals to Iran.

Both China and India have refused to abide by EU’s decision. Turkey and Pakistan has announced to follow only the UNSC part of the sanctions. India has agreed to make payment in gold rather than in US dollars. Turkey and Iran has agreed to establish a joint banking system. China buys more than 25% of Iran’s total oil export while India accounts for 13% and Turkey for 10%. Meanwhile, Japan and South Korea have expressed reservations over the consequences such sanctions could have on their economies. China has offered to buy the EU (18%) portion of Iranian oil export loss due to the new sanction.

Republic of Belarus’ largest bank, Trade Capital Bank, Iran’s third largest lender, said it will continue its services to Iran.

“This attitude angers us, because we’re a Belarusian bank, operating fully within the jurisdiction of the Republic of Belarus to the standards required by our laws,” Andrei Veretelnikov, chairman of Trade Capital Bank’s board, said in Minsk yesterday. “There will be difficulties with our relations with European and American banks, but the work of the bank will go on“.

*German political analyst Christoph R. Horstel told Russian television (RT) that amid the economic crisis the embargo on Iranian oil imports could backfire on the EU, while Iran “will do quite well even under the embargo”.

Stuart Eizenstat former author of Bill Clinton’s Iran policy is of the opinion that “sanctions could harm the economy and Obama’s re-election chances“. But if he refuses AIPAC’s marching orders for war on Iran – Obama could loose his life, as Andrew B. Alder, the publisher of Atlanta Jewish Times predicted two week ago.

Barack Obama ran an anti-Iran smear campaign in his State of Union speech. Watch a video for comments from American and Canadian writers on Obama’s propaganda lies on Iran. As result of Iranophobia created by the Jewish Lobby and its Christian stooges – the new PEW poll show nearly 30% of the American public now believes Iran “represents the greatest danger to the United States,” a jump from 12% a year ago.

Iran’s oil export earning was $70 billion in 2011 – and is expected to go as high as $100 billion this year. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned that new sanction will cause the global oil price to rise by 20-30 percent.
