Florida Jewish Rep. Ari Porth is certain that his anti-Shri’ah bill SB1360 will be passed by the Senate before the end of legislative session on March 9. However, what surprises the Israel-Firster Porth that his bill is opposed by fellow Jewish Rep. Elaine Schwartz and several Jewish groups like Anti-Defamation League, Agudath Israel of America, SPLC and professors Eugene Volokh (UCLA), Marci Hamilton (Yeshiva University) and Michael Helfand (Pepperdine University) to name a few. It’s expected that Florida Governor, Israel-Firster Rick Scott will sign the bill which has already passed by the Florida House Representatives.
The new, more targeted bill specifically applies only to divorce, child support and custody hearings in family court.
SB1360, like the other anti-Sharia laws being proposed in more than 30 states by the pro-Israel lobby groups – is based on the model legislation drafted by David Yerushalmi, whom Israeli Jewish blogger, Richard Silverstein, calls Islam-hating White Supremacist Jew.
None of these groups or individuals are friends of Muslims. What they’re affraid that the so-called “foreign law” (SB1360) will give powers to secularist judges to interfere not only in Muslim but also Jewish (batei din) divorces – and could challenge Church authority in family matters.
Agudah’s executive vice president, Rabbi David Zwiebel, said, “The notion that secular judges are being asked to decide whether religious law does or does not conform with ‘fundamental liberties’ is an intrusion on religious freedom and could be a dangerous precedent for more far-ranging efforts in the future that might well impact religious communities.”
Interestingly, On January 26, 2012 – Governor Rick was slammed by the National Jewish Democratic Council for “invoking Holocaust to shield Mitt Romney from criticism over his record at Bain Capital“. Rick’s crime was that while speaking to the Board of a state business group, used his own interpretation of Pastor Martin Niemöller’s quotation to defend Mitt Romney and capitalism. Rick began Niemöller’s quote by saying: “First Rick Scott came to the teachers, but I said nothing as my kids were nearly out of school….“. Zionist narrative of the quote begins with “First they came for the Jews“. According to Professor Harold Marcuse (University of California), Pastor Martin had used several Nazi victims on several occasions, therefore, the true construction of his famous quote would be:
“First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out–
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out–
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out–
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out–
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me–
and there was no one left to speak out for me.”
I would not be wrong that had Pastor Martin (1892-1984) still alive, he would have included Palestinians in his quote too.
And finally, some truth about Muslim tolerance toward Jews. Rabbi Glickman believes after all of this (Jewish history archives found in Egypt), the overwhelming response of the Geniza (storeroom) would be, “Return to Israel? Us? No, we’re doing fine here in Egypt, thank you. Here we feel at home, here we have friends, here we are active in politics and business and other aspects of daily life. Arabic is our first language. Cairois our hometown. Yes, we feel a deep bond with the Landof Israel— much more than many of our Jewish neighbors whose connections are with Babylonia… and, yes, we pray for a speedy return to the Land. But when we utter those prayers, we’re talking about a distant messianic future. In the meantime, we’re perfectly happy to stay here in Cairo.”
