“You know, we (Obama and Michelle) are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule, you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated,” said Obama.
Sen. Richard Madaleno, a gay and Israel-Firster Democrat from Montgomery County, commented on Obama’s statement: “Clearly the president is going to be at the top of the ticket, and having his endorsement for the issue, I think, makes it a lot easier for many Democratic voters to support the cause“.
Israeli ambassador Michael Oren was a keynote speaker at the 20th anniversary celebration of gay and lesbian (LGBT) event in Philadelphia last week. Oren used the conference to repeat Israel hasbara lies about Israel’s great tolerance toward the LGBT community based on the recent survey which put Tel Aviv as the top gay and lesbian travel destination.
