This post is my addendum to Reader’s Digest post 7 Things you can’t say in Canada, written by Toronto daily The Globe and Mail columnist Margret Wente. She wrote about our next-door neighbor United States:
“At best, we see our neighbour as a well-intentioned but arrogant and blundering bully that throws its weight around too much. At worst, we see our neighbour as one of the most evil nations in the world. And yet, right now, hundreds of millions of people in India and China and other desperately poor parts of the world are being liberated from millennia of suffering and serfdom. Why? Because of the United States, which has spread its idea of economic freedom—and its purchasing power—around the world.“
One doesn’t need a PhD to question Wente’s America’s “economic freedom benefit” story. Who has benefited from this “economic freedom” other than 1% population of the US? The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College predicted in 2011 that the bailout will cost US taxpayers over $29 trllion. America ranks top in the world economic disparity. The 2011 census data shows that over 49 million Americans (16%) live below poverty line. America has the worst wealth inequality among the industrialized world.

Like prime minister Stephen Harper and his cabinet minister Jason Kenny, Wende is very popular within pro-Israel crowed.
Having said that, now I will deal with ‘+3 Things you can’t say in Canada’.
1. Thou Shalt Not Criticize Israel – “Criticism of Israel is an old-fashioned anti-Semitism,” says Canada’s prime Minister Stephen Harper. In 2010, Harper’s junior foreign minister Peter Kent said that an attack on Israel is an attack on Canada. In 2010, Pride Toronto gay parade lost its $397,500 Harper government’d aid for allowing an Israeli anti-Zionist gay group to join the parade. In May 2012, visiting Israeli President Shimon Peres told Stephen Harper that his support for Israel “never indifferent, never neutral”.
In 2004, Daniel Freeman-Maloy, an anti-Zionist student activist at York University was expelled from the Campus by York’s Jewish president Lorna Marsden. He was allegedly punished for his encounter with notorious Islamophobe, Daniel Pipes, who runs the Campus Watch website which he uses to smear individuals who challenge Israeli policies in the Muslim East. In 2007, the Supreme Court of Canada ordered York to pay $850,000 to Daniel as compensation. In November 2010, Canadian Jewish groups slammed University of Toronto for awarding a Master’s degree to a Jew female student Jennifer Peto – for her thesis which claims that the Jews “practice racism against non-Jewish communities”. In April 2012, Canadian Justice Minister Rob Nicholson ordered the extradition of Professor Hassan Diab to France on cooked-up charges of being involved in 1980 bombing of a Synagouge in Paris – even though Diab is not wanted for that crime in France. Diab’s real crime is; he supports Palestinian cause.
In October 2010, Canada lost its bid for UN Security Council seat due to Harper’s blind support for the Zionist entity. Watch a video below.
2. Thou Shalt Not Support Iran – In February 2012 – Canadian pro-Israel groups slammed US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey for saying that Iranian regime is “a rational actor”. Since Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, Canada’s relation with Tehran has gone to dogs. Professor Robert Wright (Trent University, Canada) in his book ‘Our Man in Tehran’ has claimed that Kenneth Taylor Canadian ambassador in Tehran during the 1979 Islamic Revolution was CIA Station Chief in Iran.
No wonder in May, Iran’s deputy foreign minister and Tehran’s representative at the EU, Ali Asghar Khaji, in an Interview with Paul Koring of The Globe and Mail, called Canada Israel’s lapdog.
3. Thou Shalt Not Support Hizbullah – Canada along with the US and Israel are the only three countries in the world which has declared Lebanese Islamic Resistance and a partner in Lebonan’s Unity Government as a “terrorist Organization”. Last month, the European Union rejected Israeli demand to declare Hizbullah a terrorist organization. Hizbullah is the only Arab group which has defeated Israel during 34-day war in 2006. On top of that, Hizbullah also supports Palestinian Islamic resistance groups, Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
Interestingly, both Jean Chretien and Bill Graham, then Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs respectively, resisted placing Hizbollah on the terrorist list. Chretien met with Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Hizbollah, in Beirut in October 2002.
Pressure to list Hizbullah as a terrorist organization came from the Harper’s Conservative Party, Islamophobe Liberal politicians Irwin Cotler and Art Eggleton, and Jewish Israel lobby groups, B’nai Brith and the Canadian Jewish Congress.
