India’s top anti-Muslim Hindu communal leader, Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray, died on November 17, 2012 at the age 86. The news of his death was announced by Dr. Jalil Parker, a well known Muslim Pulmonologist from Lilavati hospital. Paker had been Thackerary’s family doctors for the last five years.
The butchers of Muslim massacre in the state of Gujrat in 2002, like current Gujrat chief minister Narendra Modi, L.K. Advani, former Indian interior minister and former Gujrat minister Mayaben Kodnani are disciples of Bal Thackeray. Kodnani along with 31 other anti-Muslim Hindu racists were convicted on charges of mass murder by an Indian court in September 2012. L.K Advani, as a top opposition leader visited Israel in 1995. He revisited Israel in 2000 as India’s interior (Home) minister and met Zionist president Ezer Weizman who had also visited India in the 1990s. Other high-ranking Hindu leaders who had visited Israel include senior RS member Najma Heptullah, West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu, Gujrat chief minister Narendra Modi and external affairs minister Jaswant Singh.
Bal Thackeray who started his career as a cartoonist, later entered politics based on Hindu hatred toward low-caste Hindus (Dalit) and non-Hindu minorities, by launching Shiv Sena on June 19, 1966.
“The self-confessed admirer of Adolf Hitler soon raised a veritable army of street fighters whom he would use to obtain jobs for the Maharashtrian youth in numerous textile and other industrial units dotting Bombay, earning the epithet of ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat’ (emperor of Hindu hearts), in the process,” wrote Mumbaj in Outlook India magazine, November 17, 2012.
Bal Thackeray never accepted the existence of Pakistan. He also warned Indian minorities (Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist and Christian) that India is for Hindus only and that they must return to their ancestors’ (Hindu) faith. Thackeray, always opposed the idea of Pakistani Cricket team playing in India.
Thackeray was known as a symbol of violence, terrorism and fear for other ethnic groups in Bombay and elsewhere in Maharashtra that were periodically targeted by ferocious and murderous gangs of Shiv Sena. He was a fanatic Hindu of typical brand and had spun a spiritual aura around his mysterious personality.
The Hindutva is the umbrella group of radical Hindu parties like BJP, RSS, Shiv Sena. BJP spokesperson Parakash Javadekar has termed Thackeray’s death as the loss of very great fighting leader of Hindu religion.
Due to their common hatred toward Muslims – Hindutva leaders have always maintained close relations with the local Jewish commnities and Israel.
