Jane Eisner, editor-in-chief of America’s oldest Jewish daily Forward, posted an Israeli hasbra (propaganda) piece on November 20, 2012, The ‘Gaza Doctor’ Speaks in Anguish‘. Her choice of the title, shows she wanted to prove to her readers that Izzeldine, while on phone, was not talking rationally. She claims that her article is based on a phone conversation with Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish.

The Gaza-born Izzeldine 57, speaks Hebrew, Arabic and English fluently. He used to practice at Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv before taking a teaching position at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health in 2009.

Dr. Izzeldine lost his three daughters and a niece as result of Israeli rockets fired on his house in Jabaliya during the final days of Israel’s 23-day attack on Gaza Strip in Dec. 2008- Jan. 2009. He is author of book ‘I shall not hate: A Gaza Doctor’s journey on the Road to peace and Human Dignity ’ which narrates his family tragedy in Gaza.

Jane admits that though Izzeldine’s life mission is a peaceful solution to Israel-Palestine conflict – he doesn’t blame Hamas for starting the current Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip – which she says: “I find hard to believe“.

Izzeldine told her on phone: “How many Palestinians have been killed, captured, wounded since Israeli Operation Cast Lead (2008-09). And what are the settlers doing in the West Bank? There is no progress there at all. We’re going backwards“.

It seems what irked Jane Eisner the most was Izzeldine’s pointing out that while the Israelis blame Arabs for hating Jews – it’s the Israelis like Zionist foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman or interior minister Eli Yishai who in a recent statement said: “Let us send Gaza back to Middle Age”.

She claims Izzeldine believes that Hamas is “a movement like Israeli Likud and Shas“. Which is very hard for any political aware person to believe especially a Palestinian whose family suffered racism and wars at the hands of Arab-hating Likud and Shas. Hamas is a resistance movement which is fighting against Zionist occupation on behalf of the native Muslims and Christians. Hamas has no problem with Jews in general who are not represented by the Zionist entity.

Janes avoids to comment on Izzeldine’s following statement reported by her: “Palestinian blood is human blood. It’s not water. As long as Palestinians are not free, Israelis are not free. I hope this is a turning point. I hope for a ceasefire. I pray for it. How many people should be killed?”.
