Rabbi: Snow ‘Salvation’ for Israeli Jews

Yesterday, occupied Palestine had its worse snow storm for 20 years. Upto 15 centimeters fell overnight forcing public transporation and schools to shut down. Four Palestinian died as result of hail, snow and heavy rain in Gaza and the West Bank. In the north bordering Lebanon, much of the Jewish occupied Galilee region was paralysed by the rare wintry conditions with 30 centimeter of snow reported in the city of Safed.

Israeli daily YNet reported today that Israelis have more reasons to enjoy the rare snow fall instead of complaining for the inconvience. Why? Because Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri, specializing in Kabbalah say that the white flakes of snow have a special meaning as a message from above to the Jewish people that their sins have been forgiven.

Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri is not an ordinary rabbi. He is son of prominent Israeli kabbalist Rabbi David Batzri. On Wednesday, speaking on behalf of his father, he issued Jewish ‘fatwa’ that the snow falling on Israel was “a good sign sent from G-d”.

Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri reminds me of another good-old Rabbi Baruch Efrati, who told a questioner in January 2012 that Jews are permitted to pray in mosque but not in a church as the later houses idols.
