Lichtman, in 2012 book, ‘FDR and the Jews’, have claimed that American president Franklin Delano Roosevelt, had, indirectly collaborated with Hitler in committing Jewish holocaust. FDR’s collaboration included refusal to accept Jewish refugees from Europe, not forcing British Mandate authority to allow more European Jews to enter Palestine and not ordering Gen. Eisenhower (born into Austrian Jewish parents) to bomb the gas chambers at Auschwitz when US jets were already bombing German industrial complex, less than five miles away.
On March 11, 2013, Richard Cohen, a Jewish journalist, in an Opinion-Post at the Washington Post, wrote: “Roosevelt was a man of his times. His anti-Semitism was so common it would have been almost noteworthy if it were absent. But Thomas Jefferson, too, was a man of his times – a slaveholder like his Virginia contemporaries – yet his greed or his hypocrisy can hardly be overlooked or, maybe, forgiven“.
Interestingly, these latest Jewish allegations against FDR were refuted by the Holocaust Encyclopedia, saying that on April 29, 1933, the Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis wrote to professor Felix Frankfurter (Harvard University), confirming that FDR was not an antisemitic.
“After the entry of the United States into the war in December 1941, Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (with Jewish family roots)determined that the number one Allied priority was to win the war, and that this was the best method to rescue Jews and other victims of the Axis powers,” says the Encyclopedia.
