On Monday, Eileen Chamberlain Donahoe, Obama’s Zionist ambassador to Geneva-based UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) refused to speak during UNHRC members’ debate over Israel’s illegal Jewish settlements in its occupied West Bank. The meeting was called to debate a January special report on Jewish settlements that called for the Zionist regime to immediately withdraw from the West Bank and suggested that Zionist entity may be liable for war crimes if it doesn’t.
Eileen Donahoe, speaking on behalf of both the US and Israel, slammed the UNHRC for picking on poor Israel. “The United States remains extremely troubled by this council’s continued biased and disproportionate focus on Israel,” claimed Donahoe. Israel left the international body in March 2012 when UNHRC decided to send a three-member fact finding mission to the West Bank to investigate the negative effect of new Jewish settlements on the native Muslim and Christian population.
Professor Richard Falk (Jewish), the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for the Palestinian Territories showed his frustration over United Nations’ failure to sanction the zionist entity over its non-stop human rights abuses and war-mongering against its Arab neighbors.
“It’s incredibly frustrating to represent the United Nations and to realize that it’s incapable of acting in a situation of such extremity from the point of view of the exitential horror that people of Gaza are being subjected to by this unlawful and criminal style of (8-day Israeli) attack,” said Falk.
In January 2013, despite Washington’s appeal, the Zionist regime boycotted the UNHRC meeting to discuss the said report. “We have encouraged Israelis to come to the council and tell their story and to present their own narrative of their own human rights situation,” said Donahoe on January 25, 2013.
Interestingly, Manchester-born Israeli Jewish citizen, professor Frances Raday, is one of the members of the UN Human Rights Council committee. Now, how that could make UNHRC “antisemitic”!
Geneva-based Jewish groups, the UN Watch and the B’nai B’rith International, have also called the UNHRC report as “counterproductive”.
“Far from advancing the peace process between the two main parties, the fact-finding mission report has only reinforced Israel’s doubts about returning to active participation in this council and produced yet another source of conflict that may occupy this council’s attention for months or years to come,” said Klaus Netter of the B’nai B’rith.
It seems the Israeli human rights abuses got a booster with the pro-settlement supporters securing the defense and housing ministries in the new Zionist regime under prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both Moshe Yaalon and Uri Ariel are against freeze on new Jewish settlements both in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Aluf Benn, Ha’aretz’s editor-in-chief, wrote the other day: “The third Netanyahu government has one clear goal: enlarging the serrlements and achieving the vision of ‘a million Jews living in Judea and Samaria (West Bank)’. This magic number will thwart the division of the land and prevent once and for all the establishment of a Palestinian state“.
