While Barack Obama tried in public to distance himself from the military coup against the elected Egyptian president Dr. Mohamed Morsi, many leaders of Jewish lobby groups were overjoyed at the removal of Muslim Brotherhood from power. Now, these ‘Israel-Firsters’ are urging Obama administration to recognize the illegal regime change and continue $1.3 billion military aid to the coup leaders.
Martin Indyk, vice president of the Brookings Institution and founder of the pro-Israel Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP), in a statement has warned Obama administration that cutting of US aid to Egyptian military rulers would be against US hopes for a democratic Egypt in the future. The other Israel lobby groups like ADL and AJC also showed their pleasure at the removal of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Douglas Bloomfield explained the reason for the US military aid to Egypt on June 12, 2013 in the Jerusalem Post, by saying: “Peace with Israel is the locomotive that pulls aid to Egypt through the Congress“. Bloomfield said that in the past, when some congressmen tried to link US aid to Egypt to democratic reform and respect for human rights – the loudest objections came from the Israeli embassy in Washington, whose diplomats scurried to Capitol Hill to explain how vital that aid was to maintaining Israel-Egypt peace treaty.
The pro-Israel regimes in Saudi Arabia and Qatar have already announced $6 billion in aid to the new rulers in Cairo.
American Jewish writer, Stephen Lendman, wrote on July 11, that Morsi was booted out for Israeli interests. “They (SCAF generals) are in close liaison with Israel. Controlling events on the ground is important. Washington manipulates them. SCAF’s ordered to prevent them from spinning out of control,” says Lendman.
Turkish prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called the removal of Morsi “a military coup” and had stated that such illegal move was not acceptable to Ankara. As result, Egyptian military installed government in Cairo summoned Turkish ambassador in Cairo, Hüseyin Avni Botsalı, to warn that such statement could strain relations between the two neighboring Muslim countries.
Early this month, Turkish deputy prime minister Beşir Atalay, blamed foreign Jewish groups for inciting anti-government protests and worked effectively to fuel the unrest in the country.
“There are some circles that are jealous of Turkey’s growth. They are all uniting, and on one side is the Jewish Diaspora. You saw the foreign media’s attitude during the Gezi Park incidents; they bought it and started broadcasting immediately, without doing a proper evaluation of the situation,” said Atalay.
As usual, the Jewish lobby groups could not let the truth go without a smear campaign against the prophet. On July 2, Abraham Foxman, head of powerful pro-Israel Anti-Defamation League issued a statement urging prime minister Erdogan and other AKP government leaders to condemn Atalay’s antisemitic statement.
During the decades-long military dictatorships in both Turkey and Egypt – Israeli relations in military, espionage and trade were at the peak.
Tony Cartalucci, an investigative writer, reported in 2011, that the so-called Arab Spring was given birth by the US State Department and several Jewish lobby groups to create political and economical unrest among Israel’s Muslim neighbors. The Jewish-controlled major powerful Think Tanks involved in bringing pro-Israel regime changes in the Muslim world include the International Crisis Group, the Brookings Institution, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the Chatham House, to name a few.
