Canada defends gays in Russia and Uganda

After condemning Iran, Syria, Sudan, Hizbullah an all others who doesn’t show their love for the Zionist regime – Canada’s foreign minister John Baird has found another bat to hit Russia and Uganda, for their anti-LGBT laws.

On Thursday, John Baird in an interview with the Israeli hasbara outlet, The Canadian Press, claimed how Ottawa has worked behind the scenes to persuade Vladimir Putin not to bless Russia’s controversial new anti-gay law.

“This mean-spirited and hateful law will affect all Russians 365 days of the year, every year. It’s an incitement to intolerance, which breeds hate. And intolerance and hate breeds violence,” said John Baird.

Baird said that Ottawa along with Washington and London is running a united campaign against Moscow’s anti-gay law.

Interestingly, in 2010, Ottawa refused to fund Toronto Gay parade for allowing members of Israel’s Queers Against Israeli Apartheid to join the parade.

In February 2013, The Canadian Press criticized Ottawa for funding ($544,813) to Crossroads Christian Communications, an Ontario-based Evangelical group which runs Christian charity work in Uganda. Why? Because the group’s website claims homosexuality is “perversion” and “sin”.

Are these Israeli poodles know that Uganda happens to be Israel’s best ally in Africa? Uganda just announced to accept tens of thousands of Israel’s unwanted African refugees.

Israelis and pro-Israel Jewish groups have been very passionate toward LGBT community. It’s not that they care much about LGBT’s rights – but because they see themselves in the larger picture. For example, Abraham Foxman, the top gun of Anti-Defamation League, in an Op-Ed last month compared Russian treatment of gays with the plight of Jews under Nazi regime in the past. The Tel Aviv city council went a little further – it has decided to build a Holocaust Monument in honor of the gays killed by the Nazis.

To be honest, living in Ontario, I shouldn’t be criticizing John Baird for his love for the LGBT minority. You see Ontario’s premier Kathleen Wynne, is Canada’s first openly lesbian provincial leader. She is member of Canada’s United Church.

I’m not concerned about John Baird’s sexual priorities – but in September 2012, he did claim that with some help from the immigration minister Jason Kenney, he saved a large number of gays and lesbians from Iranian mullahs.
