There was no handshake between Barack Obama and Hassan Rouhani at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York. Was it due to Jewish Lobby pressure, as we were told? The Jewish TIME magazine reported on September 27 that Iranian president Rouhani had declined an earlier request to meet with Obama on the sidelines of the UNGA meeting.
Obama said during a press briefing at the White House that he did make a telephone call to Iranian president Rouhani on Friday, when the later was on his way to JFK Airport to return to Tehran.
“Just now, I spoke on the phone with President Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The two of us discussed our ongoing efforts to reach an agreement over Iran’s nuclear program. I reiterated to President Rouhani what I said in New York - while there will surely be important obstacles to moving forward, and success is by no means guaranteed, I believe we can reach a comprehensive solution,” said Obama.
“I’ve directed Secretary Kerry to continue pursuing this diplomatic effort with the Iranian government….. We’re mindful of all the challenges ahead. The very fact that this was the first communication between an American and Iranian President since 1979 underscores the deep mistrust between our countries, but it also indicates the prospect of moving beyond that difficult history,” added Obama.
One day earlier, on Thursday, John Kerry along with the so-called “P5+1″ met with Iran’s foreign minister Javed Zarif on the margins of the UNGA in New York. The Kerry-Zarif face-to-face meeting was the first high-level meeting between the United States and Iran since New Year’s Eve in 1977 when president Jimmy Carter met with King Reza Shah, an US-Israel puppet.
Israeli leaders and several American Jewish groups have criticized the White House for being fooled by Rouhani’s charm. Netanyahu has openly said that he doesn’t agree with American euphoria with Rouhani’s statements. He has warned the western leaders not to trust Rouhani’s words and continue tightening the screw on Rohani’s regime with military option on the table. Any US-Iran convergence scares the hell out of Zionist leaders who need Tehran’s nuclear bomb hoax alive to divert world’s attention from Israel’s stockpiles of nuclear bombs and its illegal occupation of Palestine.

When Rouhani condemned the persecution of Jews and other people, by saying: “The taking of human life is contemptible. It makes no difference whether that life is Jewish, Christian or Muslim. For us it’s the same” – he was talking as a Shia cleric and not the president of Iran.
Rouhani’s views on the Zionist regime are no different than what Ahmadinejad said on many occasions. Last month speaking at Al Quds rally in Tehran, he called the Zionist state a “festering tumor on the body of the Islamic world that should be removed“.
The mood in the United States is changing after its disatrous military adventures in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria for Israel’s regional supremacy. The US military generals are against a new war in the Middle East which is doomed to failure. Furthermore, American leaders have realized that they need Iranian help for an ‘honorable exist’ from Afghanistan, a durable solution to the on-going bloodshed in Syria and Egypt – plus most importantly, the security of Israel.
