The U.S. Cassini probe has discovered a new moon that the source of the outer ring can be reported to NASA. Scientists arrived on August 15 last year with a new moon Cassini on the trail around the gaslight. A sequence of photographs also showed that the path of the celestial body, with a diameter of half a km, in a bright arc of the G-ring or the outer ring of Saturn is

Dust Rings
For the Cassini Saturn thorough knowledge of opvijzelde, the G-ring is the only substance that does not ring with known moon link to. The rings around Saturn are in the order they were discovered. From inside to outside the D, C, B, A, F, G and E.

Within the G-ring is a relatively bright and narrow 250 km wide arc of ring material that is about 150,000 km , or one sixth of the entire circumference of the ring. The newly found moon moves within the ring arc. The researchers think that the moon is the source of that ring.

Baan disrupted
Moreover, the orbit of the moon to be disturbed by the near and larger Mimas Monday that the ring together.
Possibly the newly found satellite not the only moon in the arch ring of the G-ring. (belga / sam)
