Life-friendly planets may reveal itself
Monday, March 30, 2009

Radio signals from the magnetic fields of planets, the habitable worlds can now reveal the telescopes in the future be taken that can absorb, says a study by Joseph Lazio and some colleagues from the Naval Research Laboratory. The signals can occur when the magnetic field of a planet outside our solar system being hit by high-energy particles that are carried by the solar wind.

Because a magnetic field contributes to maintaining an atmosphere and oceans on rocky planets, the presence of a magnetosphere can show that a complex planet has life on his surface. According to the team that the study has had "it is absolutely worth a significant role to play in the search for extraterrestrial life," as it is read in the study that is soon.

The reverse side of the story is that the telescopes that are currently used one hundred times as sensitive as is the case and it is per se in an orbit around the earth surface, because the signals by the atmosphere of our planet is absorbed . And still, only moving a few exoplanets light years of us are studied. However, the idea according to Gordon Walker of the University of Victoria does not refer to the trash, since less effort would cost the magnetosphere to see the planets themselves.
