wow this is certainly a tragedy

i have a friend that lives over there and he told me today that the number killed is closer to 200 and the number of now homeless is near 70,000

supposedly the U.S. has only sent 50,000 to help the relief effort. i doubt that will go very far

US gives 50,000 dlrs for quake-hit Italy

this is a developing story so the info is going to keep changing.

latest report now say's the death toll has risen to 250

L'AQUILA, Italy – The Civil Protection Department says that the death toll in Italy's earthquake has risen to 250.

The department said Wednesday that 11 of the victims remained to be identified.

The magnitude-6.3 quake hit L'Aquila and several towns in central Italy early Monday, leveling buildings and reducing entire blocks to a pile of rubble and dust.

Strong aftershocks have caused further fear for residents, as rescue efforts continue.
