Gold coins from the Iron Age. Found in a field near Wickham Market, Suffolk, England. And not a bit too. There were 824 gold coins in the pot. The coins were beaten by predecessors of Boudicca, the queen of the Iceni steel where the Romans were good to make around 60 AD. A kind of early Margaret Thatcher.
The coins are beaten between 40 BC and 15 AD. Hidden in a simple piece of pottery they were between 15 and 20 AD buried. Presumably as a sacrifice. For with his metal detector scanning using finder is a nice discovery. The value at the time of burying all the equivalent of about 1 million pounds.
It is the largest discovery of gold in the old pre-Roman Iron Age since 1849. When pointed a simple farm laborer between 800 and 2000 gold coins at near Milton Keynes in the south east of England. The money is not on any street for the taking, but previously there.
