“The reason why they are the most important threat to Israel, in my view, is they are convinced that Israel can be defeated by force. This is an old idea that was somewhat discredited by the 1967 war and many people in the governments in the region that did not like Israel figured they would have to accept the Jewish state in their midst, regardless of how they felt. From Israel’s point of view, this looked like progress. Hezbollah has worked for three decades to put back into circulation the notion that resistance against Israel can work. This is not symbolic resistance; this is real military resistance whose organizers believe this can lead to a military victory. From Israel’s perspective this is very very dangerous. It not only creates a literal military threat, but it creates a whole new wave of momentum for individuals and militant factions and down the road, governments, who will believe that with adequate resources and perseverance they can end the presence of the Jewish state in the Mid-East,” Thanassis Cambanis wrote in OP-ED on January 12, 2011 in The New York Times.

May be idiot should read an article by Alastair Crooke and Mark Perry – which proved that Hizbullah did defeat Israel in Summer 2006.

Thanassis Cambanis (a Greek Orthodox) while stationed in Baghdad as reporter for the The Boston Globe in 2005 married Anne Barnard, a Jewish fellow reporter. Now he is a reporter for the New York Times.

On January 18, 2011 – speaking at Zionist think tank, International Peace Institute, meeting Thanassis Cambanis had claimed: “Hezbollah’s top choice is a war with Israel they can blame on Israel at the best time for Hezbollah”.

“I think that’s what they’re planning for, and, in the worst-case scenario for Hezbollah, they just have to outright provoke a war,” he said at an IPI event on January 18th. “And that’s bad in a number of ways. That’s just bad, and it’s bad for the world.”

Cambanis also said that all of Hezbollah is “wedded to a war against Israel,” in contrast to Hamas, where some “aren’t necessarily interested in fighting.”

A paranoid Zionist regime has claimed that some of Bahrain’s opposition groups were trained by Hizbullah. Israel closed four of its foreign embassies last week. Now it has
warned its citizens of Hizbullah threats against Israel and Jewish targets in Egypt, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mauritania, and Venezuela.

The results of a latest poll conducted by International Peace Institute which were released on January 5, 2011 – showed that 71% of Iranian surveyed want Tehran to develope a nuclear bomb while 67% support Ahmadinejad’s policies.
