The Global Entry is a US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. The system allows the travellers to pass through automated biometrics checks (kiosks) to avoid delays at the lengthy customs and security checks.
In February 2011 – the US Homeland Security Secretary Douglas Andrew Smith during his meeting with Israeli deputy foreign minister Daniel Ayalon welcomed Tel Aviv’s desire to join the program. Daniel Ayalon later told the press that “it amounts to a first step towards the cancellation of the US visa requirements for Israelis”.

The ICTS was the security company in charge of the actual passenger screening at Dulles as well as Boston Logan and Newark airports from where the three so-called “9/11 hijacked” flights originated. Since 1998, ICTS has provided airline passenger screening services at 47 US airports, including all the international aviation gateways in the USA. Incidently, ICTS was also in charge of airport security at Amsterdam’s Schipol Airoport when the shoe bomber Richard Reid boarded a plane with a shoe bomb.
