Nano electro-magnets driven by magnetic field of light

A team of scientists at FOM Institute AMOLF's first managed to energy transfer between nano electro-magnets to drive the magnetic field of light. This breakthrough is important in the search for magnetic "metamaterials" that light could bend in all directions. This would be possible to make perfect lenses and ultimately "invisibility cloaks". The researchers AMOLF Ivana Sersic, Martin Frimmer, Ewold Verhagen and Vidi-laureate and leader Femius Koenderink published their results in the leading journal Physical Review Letters.
