These Faraday cages are much easier to build than you would expect, most people have the items they need lying around the house to build one. You must make sure you're watching when a solar flare is happening to you know the right time to put your electronic devices in the Faraday cage, otherwise it's useless to have lying around the house.

Yes, but what good is protecting your electronics from the solar flares, if the flares take out the power grid? I say, who cares and let it all go, we're better off.

Well with a backup generator even possibly solar panels, you could power some electrical devices. After the solar flare takes out the electrical grid and others are without power, you would still be able to power small devices. Such as lights, radios, refrigerators even maybe a computer or even a small vehicle such as electric motor for bicycle.

This would make surviving much easier and keep you from be thrown back in the Stone Age like people who do not have power. Just powering a refrigerator alone would mean you would have fresh food for weeks. People without this option, they have to be looking for food on a daily basis.

Ok, fine, but most people would only try to save their precious televisions, their cell phones, and other useless devices. Therefore making it pointless. Yes, if you found a source of power, if your fridge still works, or freezer, then yes, useful.

And it wouldn't throw us back to the stone age, lol. We still have hand tools, lol. And the ability to create fire.

If there is any devices you want power after a solar flare or some other disaster the best ones are, a refrigerator, a radio, even a water distiller, would be the best choices.
