The super moon isn't any closer than usual right now. Now maybe, the Earth knows it's coming and decided to throw a fit huh? You people astound me. A super moon comes every 18 years and has little effect if any. The truth is, we have much larger title forces EVERY month as the moon orbits the Earth. Now scurry of and tell everyone who flunked 3rd grade science so you can create another hoax in the world. Tsunamis ARE naturally occurring events. These are the very forces that created the planet and have been happening for long before man was here. If man insists on being stupid enough to build in these natural danger zones, don't blame nature.

Tell your teacher that the perihelion of the moon was even closer than this one will be on January 19, 1992. This happens every 18 years, 11 days and eight hours on average (Saros cycle). The moon moves away from the Earth 3.8 cm (1.52 inches) per year. so this time the Moon is more than 68.4 centimeters further away, and that's not accounting for the 11 days and 8 hours.I've already commented in other answers in the previous 24 hours about the possible connection between the super-moon and the Japan earthquake. I know my reasoning will probably be disputed by some YA members, so I'm not commenting further right now.

No evidence. Correlation does not imply causation. In fact, there isn't correlation to begin with. Here, read this: http://www.nasa.gov/topics/moonmars/features/supermoon.html
