Rome, November 3 The European Court of Human Rights has today determined that all crucifixes be removed from Italian classes.
The Strasbourg-based Court violate the images to the right of parents to educate their children as they wish. They go against the right to freedom of religion. The Italian government has said to appeal, although the separation of church and state enshrined in the Constitution.
The crosses are a common sight in classrooms in Catholic Italy. Under two laws, which date from the twenties of the last century in Italy when the fascists were in power, schools must show crucifixes.
