Ancient city of Troy exposed

TUBINGEN - German archaeologists have near the ruins of Troy in modern Turkey parts of the ancient port city Sigeion exposed.
The excavations are important, because the city was the nerve center of trade in the region, where many ancient cultures came together.
That the University of Tübingen in southern Germany, Tuesday. So far the archaeologists have only excavated foundations of Greek houses.
In the coming years the scientists want the sanctuary of the Greek goddess Pallas Athene trying to find. Sigeion would have 700 to 300 BC exist. The city is located a few kilometers southwest of the ancient Troy. © Reuters
