A strong earthquake has struck under the sea near the Pacific Island nation of Vanuatu. There are no reports of damage or injuries and officials say there is no significant tsunami threat.
The U.S. Geological Survey says Sunday's quake measured magnitude 6.6 and was centered 66 miles (107 kilometers) northwest of the remote island of Isangel at a depth of 10 miles (17 kilometers).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no threat of a widespread tsunami.
Vanuatu is part of the Pacific "Ring of Fire" — an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones stretching from South America through Alaska and down through the South Pacific.
