Strong earthquake strikes south of Fiji

SUVA, Fiji – A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake has struck in waters south of Fiji. There are no immediate reports of injuries or damage and no tsunami warning has been issued.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck on Monday 549 miles (883 kilometers) south of the capital Suva, at a depth of 335 miles (540 kilometers).

Earthquakes are common in the South Pacific.
