Four people have been charged with breach of trust and fraud following a police investigation into cleaning contracts at Ontario government buildings in downtown Toronto.
Provincial police on Monday charged two workers at the Ministry of Transportation and one at the Ministry of Economic Development with breach of trust and accepting a secret commission.
A fourth accused, a manager at CB Richard Ellis Global Corporate Services, was charged with fraud under $5,000.
The OPP say its anti-rackets branch began an investigation in September 2009 into irregular financial transactions relating to cash and cleaning services at government offices.
The force executed nine search warrants at different ministry offices and people’s homes, and says the “complex” investigation involved a significant amount of evidence.
All four accused are scheduled to appear in court in Toronto in late January or early February.
Transportation Minister Kathleen Wynne says government officials have fully co-operated throughout the police investigation.
“The Ontario Public Service consists of hardworking, dedicated individuals committed to providing the public services Ontarians rely on,” said Wynne. “When employees do engage in misconduct, it is a very serious matter and appropriate action is taken.”

* Gino Conicella, 47, a project coordinator for the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
* Michaele Depace, 47, an employee of the Ministry of Transportation.
* Kathy Pagliaroli, 40, a business support analyst with the Ministry of Transportation
* Ivanna Presot, 46, a customer service manager with CB Richard Ellis.
