A man and a woman have been found dead as a result of apparent trauma in a Richmond, B.C., hotel, police say.

RCMP were called about 6 p.m. PT Saturday by staff at an unnamed local hotel requesting they investigate two guests who failed to check out as scheduled, Cpl. Sherrdean Turley said in a release Sunday.

Police checked the room and found the bodies of a 50-year-old female and a 55-year-old male, both Richmond residents.

"It was apparent that both suffered trauma," said Turley. "No other persons are believed to be involved in this incident."

Family members have been notified and the names of the deceased are being withheld, she said.

The police investigation is continuing, said Turley.
