An 87-year-old man who went missing following Wednesday's storm was found dead in a mound of snow outside his West Babylon home, police said.

According to authorities, the man identified as Emanuel Maggio was reported missing at around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday. He was discovered some time after midnight, lying down in the snow of a nearby parking lot, police said.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It was immediately clear if Maggio, who was said to be not appropriately dressed for the frigid temperatures, was outside shoveling snow in wake of a storm that dumped up to a foot and a half of snow across Long Island.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death, officials said.
