Franklin Gladue was arrested Friday in a series of rural Alberta bank robberies.

Three males and one female were taken into custody Friday in a string of armed robberies in rural Alberta.

Franklin William Gladue, 34, was among those arrested in Edmonton's Beverly neighbourhood, RCMP spokesman Sgt. Tim Taniguchi said.

"He was on an arrest warrant for numerous armed robbery charges," Taniguchi said. "At this point there are other charges pending on Mr. Gladue."

Earlier in the week, RCMP said they were seeking Gladue and two youths in seven armed robberies that have taken place in Bonnyville, Lac la Biche, Wildrose, Bonnyville, Millet, Onoway, Wetaskiwin and Gibbons since the end of November.

A bank teller was assaulted in the most recent robbery at the ATB Financial branch in Gibbons on Tuesday.

The two youths sought by police were also arrested Friday. Charges are pending against them as well.
Bank staff trained on how to react

Five of the robberies took place at ATB Financial branches which prompted the bank to offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

ATB spokesman Shawn Ohler praised the RCMP for their work on the case.

"We're just thankful for all their hard work and diligence throughout that investigation," he said. "They really stuck to it."

Staff receive training on how to react during robberies. Ohler said every staff member who was targeted in the robberies acted calmly.

The suspects used a sawed-off shotgun in every robbery, police said.

RCMP were concerned the group would keep committing robberies, which had become increasingly violent
