Police are investigating the discovery of a human body apparently wrapped in plastic in a ditch by Kirkstone Park in North Vancouver.

The remains were found in the 2300 block of Kirkstone Road, near the Karen Magnussen Recreation Centre Wednesday afternoon and the body might have been there for a number of days, according to a local resident.

"It's been there since Sunday," said area homeowner Rob Mullins, who said it he thought then it was just garbage wrapped in plastic that someone had thrown in the ditch.

The gender and approximate age of the body have not been made public.

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is on the scene near Lynn Valley Road and the Trans-Canada Highway along with members of the local RCMP detachment, said IHIT Cpl. Dale Carr late Wednesday.
