Barking dogs can land owner in jail

If you live in Italy and if the barking of your dogs keeps the neighbors up at night, it's you who might wind up caged -- in a jail cell.

The top appeals court sentenced four people in Sicily to two months in jail because they refused to keep their 10 dogs quiet at night despite complaints from neighbors who had repeatedly picked a bone with the owners over lost sleep.

The four were also ordered to pay court charges and a fine of 500 euros ($684) each.
 
Oh, I was intending to visit Italy next year. But I got worried about my Cyberian Husky. He doesn't disturb
anyone usually but in a bad mood, he barks badly and can byte even.
I don't have any treatment to make him silent. What do you say, should I take him to the Italy or not?

What kind of "justice" is that? Barking dogs especially at night are a disturbance of the peace, in my book, and I like dogs, but how can the owners, let their dogs do that.

We had one tenant here, that kept her dog tied to the door knob of the front door, and it gets hot here, and the poor thing would really bark alot all day, ( the tenant was home alot during the day too, so no excuse for the animal to be out like that well someone in this complex not me, I didn't get around to it) called code enforcement on them and finally the animal was treated a little better than that. However they moved so, the poor animals probably back outside again, and in this heat.

These are very small one bedroom apartments, and the poor dog was a pit bull. Unfair to the dog to have it outside like that tied to the front door knob in the heat of the day. I certainly never saw anyone do their dog like that before.

That's terrible to treat any animal like that. WTF is wrong with people?

I love dogs, and if you train and treat the animal right, they won't generally have a barking issue. They bark for a reason, and when they seem to be barking for NO reason, the owners need to respect other people's rights and the need for peacefulness and quiet and silence them. But I don't think jail is the answer. That's still not gonna stop the dogs from barking. Just my opinion.

As much as I don't like to hear dogs constantly barking, especially at night, I think the jailtime for the owners thing, even fines, is just a money grab and it won't serve any good purpose. The dogs need training, so do the owners. Again, just my opinion.
 
Yes,I agree, with you I don't know WTF is wrong with these people now, but something is not right with alot of these nutty people. They should be stricter with letting people have animals as pets. I don't know how you would do that, but they could probably figure it out .That family was a good example to advocate for something like that.

Unless you have a large property and your neighbors are far away from you, 10 dogs is a little much. They will disturb your neighbors, especially in a city where properties are nearly on top of each other.
 
They sure will, that's why some municipalities limit four for owner. Unfortunate thatt the municipalities don't have enough people to keep track of everything I guess.
