The Sahara is becoming closer to Europe. The desert is now cross the Mediterranean Sea, and threatens some 6.5 million people on the coast. This is evident from an analysis of the Italian environmental group Legambiente.
"If we do not take environmental measures will not stop this process are," says a spokesman. Especially Sicily and Sardinia are at high risk according to the group, because the farmers depend on groundwater.
