Seven Years on: Hizbullah defeated Israel

“Hizbullah is not a militia but the Lebanese resistance force since it only used its weapons against Israel,” Rafik Hariri, prime minister of Lebanon in 1989. Rafik Hariri was assassinated by Mossad on February 14, 2005.

Seven years have passed on July 2006 war, when Jewish Army used all its power and United States’ support and later pulled out defeated. Israel and the western Zionist-controlled mainstream media called Israel’s July 12 all-out war on Lebanon, as a rescue mission to bring home two Jewish soldiers captured by Hizbullah fighters. After 34-day of carpet bombing and Navy shelling of homes, schools, hospitals, powerhouses, bridges and other infrastructure, Israeli army failed to rescue the two soldiers. On August 14, 2006, a humiliated Zionist regime agreed to a ceasefire brokered by UN Security Council, based on US sponsored Resolution 1701.

On March 8, 2007, Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported prime minister Ehud Olmert telling the Winograd Commission investigating the 2006 Lebanon War that he made the decision to invade Lebanon four months before Hizbullah fighters killed five and captured another two Israeli soldiers.

On July 12, 2012, Ehud Olmert at a conference in Tel Aviv readmitted that Israel’s main excuse for its brutal attack on Lebanon – the retrieval of two captured Jewish soldiers – was false. “The war had one objective which we did not achieve and knew in advance that we could not achieve and it was spoken in cabinet meetings,” said Olmert.

Roi Tov, an Israeli refugee and blogger tells what really happened on July 12, 2006. “In the morning hours of July 12, 2006, Hezbollah launched a diversionary rocket attack toward Israeli military strongholds near the coast, not far from Zar’it. In parallel, Hezbollah soldiers crossed the border into Israel and attacked a patrol of two Israeli Humvees. In the event, three IDF soldiers were killed, two were injured, and two others were captured. Master Sergeant Ehud Goldwasser and First Sergeant Eldad Regev, were taken by the Hezbollah fighters to Lebanon”.

This was not the first time, Hizbullah fighters captured Jewish soldiers. This was Hizbullah’s way to retrieve Lebanese and Palestinian civilians kidnapped by Israelis. On July 16, 2008, as part of prisoner exchange, Hizbullah got from the Zionist regime in return for the bodies of two Israeli soldiers – the incarcerated Palestine Liberation Front official Samir Kuntar, four Hezbollah fighters captured during the war, and the bodies of about 200 other Lebanese and Palestinians.

In October 2006, Alastair Crooke and Mark Perry wrote a three-part review of Jewish army’s military and intelligence defeat, entitled, ‘How Hizbullah Defeated Israel‘. The two investigative journalists refuted Israeli and the White House claim that Israel successfully degraded Hizbullah’s military to prevail in a future conflict and that Israeli army, once deployed in large numbers (30,000) in Southern Lebanon were able to prevail over their foes and dictate a settlement favorable to the Israeli political establishment. Instead, both claimed that the July 2006 war fundamentaly altered the power balance in region away from United States and Israeli hegemony.

Frnklin Lamb, Ph.D, wrote in March 2007: “Ladies and gentlemen, the bell has sounded for Round Six: Israel vs. Hezbollah. The arena is holding its collective breadth. The outcome is uncertain. To date the score is Hezbollah 5, Israel 0.”
